This is a residential operation divided into two schools; one for the sight impaired and the other for the hearing impaired. The schools have over 350 students, many are residential. A branch of this school is in Kaithadi, Jaffna.

Chitra Lane School is a day school providing education, vocational and extra-curricular programmes for 265 intellectually impaired children and young adults between the ages of 5 and 22 years. Divided into junior, intermediate and senior levels, the students can follow the programme in either Sinhala or Tamil medium.

This institute consist of Child Guidance Clinic, Special Education Research Centre, Autism Centre, and an Early Childhood Development Centre. Special educational and therapeutical interventions are carried out from pre-school to age span classes, organ music, computer, elocution, and dancing under the guidence of Dr. Sudath Damsimha. The school provides special educational services and attends to pshycological development problems including Autism and other communication disorders and behavioral disorders of needy children.

The Dr.Reijntjes School for the Deaf in Moratuwa, started in 1984 with 8 deaf pupils under the care of Mrs. Tineke de Silva from the Netherlands. The School was growing so fast that new buildings were constructed with the help of Dutch Organizations. All the deaf pupils also needed boarding facilities, as they live far away from Moratuwa. After 10 years the number of deaf children was growing to 100.
At this Deaf School the deaf pupils get a normal school programme like any other hearing child. Only the method of teaching is different. The extra lessons they get here are speech therapy, drama, dancing and expression & art classes. Through these lessons the deaf children learn to express themselves and get self confidence, to face the hearing society.
Dr. Reijntjes Deaf School is free of charge and all the pupils get a free hearing aid of the School. The school celebrated its 25th anniversary this year.
