The Alliance Française de Colombo is also a French language learning centre which prepares students for Diplôme Elémentaire de Langue Française (DELF) and Diplôme Approfondi de Langue Française (DALF). These diplomas are issued by the French educational system and internationally recognized.
Students are required to sit a placement test before the beginning of the course. Classes for students between 10-14 are divided into 4 levels. Teenagers over 15 and alduts, are divided into 5 levels.

English Exams for Adults and Teenagers

Key English Test (KET)
KET is an elementary level exam. It tests the ability to cope with everyday written and spoken communications at a basic level. This exam is at Council of Europe Level A2.
Preliminary English Test (PET)
PET is an intermediate level exam. It tests the ability to cope with everyday written and spoken communications. This exam is at Council of Europe Level B1
First Certificate in English (FCE)
